Represented the Buyer — Triplex in the Lincoln Park Historic District

Some client stories stand out because they remind you how relationships — not transactions — truly drive real estate. This sale in Pomona’s Lincoln Park Historic District is one of those stories.

We first met this client just a couple of years ago, at a Stein Team drag queen bingo event in 2023 at Piano Piano in Claremont — a free brunch gathering filled with food, drinks, bingo, and live entertainment from drag queen Kay Sedilla. He was a total stranger who came for a fun afternoon, but that moment turned into the start of a genuine friendship and a lasting professional relationship.

After the event, we stayed in touch on social media and quickly discovered we had many mutual friends. Not long after, his mother passed away. To show support, we attended her funeral and brought cookies — a small gesture that built trust and connection beyond real estate.

Months later, he needed to sell his home in Claremont. He interviewed three local agents, including our team at Stein Team Realty. In the end, he chose us because he felt we cared — not just about the transaction, but about him. That sale went smoothly, and it became the first of several successful transactions we’ve completed together.

In May 2025, he reached out again, ready to buy. When we came across a triplex in Pomona’s coveted Lincoln Park Historic District, purchasing a multi-unit property wasn’t even on his radar. But after reviewing the potential, we helped him see how this could be both a primary residence and an income-generating investment.

With the help of our trusted lender partner, he confirmed the numbers made sense. We ran comps, completed our due diligence, and identified a fair offer price. Once the offer was submitted, it was accepted — and we moved straight into escrow.

The property itself had great bones but needed a full update. During inspections, we discovered that the plumbing had never been replaced and was far beyond its lifespan. We negotiated a large credit for a complete plumbing replacement across all three units, protecting his investment and setting the stage for the renovation work ahead.

After closing, he fully renovated the property — all three units received a complete transformation. He moved into one of the units himself, while securing excellent tenants for the other two. The result is a beautifully restored 1927 triplex with historic charm, modern function, and lasting financial value.

This story represents everything that makes real estate rewarding: trust, persistence, and the ability to see potential where others might not. From meeting at a community event to helping him grow into a confident property owner, this journey is a reminder that meaningful relationships build real success.
